This is an image file format that is related to the PNG format, but uses lossy compressin like default JPEG files. This format was created as a sub-format for MNG objects and can be used as a standalone raster image format. JNG files can contain an optional alpha channel for transparency (that is not supported by default JPEG files). These files can also contain ancillary data chunks that may include color-space data and comments.
