INS file extension

Ensoniq synthesizers and sound cards file format that is used for saving instrument samples.

This file stores specification for a single instrument and references to external sound files that are used by this instrument. It can be used by Mac OS and Windows systems, but files are incompatible between platforms. The file does not include actual audio data.

Inspiration (visual thinking and learning software that is usually used for educational purposes) data file that is also known as a "mind map" file and stores concept maps, webs and idea maps. Diagram View and Outline View are used to view INS files visually or using a linear format.

LaTeX typesetting program installer script file that is usually provided with a DTX DOCTex archive and stores instructions for extracting the DTX content into separate files (STY or TEX files). Open INS file within a LaTeX program to run it.

Windows file that is used to setup dial-up and broadband Internet connections. It includes connection setup data which allows Windows to setup Internet access with an ISP when opened. This file is also used to setup Internet Explorer (IE) LAN connection properties.

This file is used to locate IP addresses and names of computers on the Internet. It translates the IP address into a name that is saved by the Windows Internet Naming Service. INS file should not be opened or edited manually.
