Windows Live Messenger (WLM - an online chat application) file with such metadata as emoticon name and keyboard shortcut. This file is used with related DT2 graphic file for displaying an emoticon and also may be used for generating custom emoticons. A WLM user's Passport User ID (PUID) is used to encrypt and decrypt ID2 files that are located in the "/Application Data/Microsoft/Messenger/[LiveID]/ObjectStore/CustomEmoticons/" folder in Windows XP and in the "/AppData/Microsoft/Messenger/[LiveID]/ObjectStore/CustomEmoticons/" folder. ID2 files usually have cryptic names automatically generated from a hash of the DT2 file.
