DT2 file extension

GIS applications Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) Level 2 file that is used to show terrain elevation data and includes a uniformly-spaced grid of elevation points. This format is usually used in military systems that need terrain slope, elevation and surface contour data. DTED Level 0 DT0 and Level 1 DT1 files also include terrain elevation information. DT2 files have the highest resolution data and DT0 files have the lowest resolution. DT2 data include spacing of one arc second or approximately 30 meters.

You can change the ".dt2" file extension to ".gif" or ".png" and open the file with an image viewer or editor. These files are usually located in the "/Application Data/Microsoft/Messenger/[LiveID]/ObjectStore/CustomEmoticons/" folder in Windows XP and in the "/AppData/Microsoft/Messenger/[LiveID]/ObjectStore/CustomEmoticons/" folder in Windows Vista. DT2 files are used along with ID2 files to allow the use of emoticons in Windows Live Messenger.
