IPF file extension

Xilinx iMPACT program (used to program PLDs - programmable logic devices) project file with project preferences, configuration chain and the target device. It is used during the process of configuring a PLD and allows designers to reuse the same preferences.

This is a preservation format that is used for preserving the content of Amiga floppy disks. These files are formatted similarly to the IFF (Interchangeable File Format) that is used on Amiga systems. It was created by the Software Preservation Society (SPS) for storing and archiving Amiga games and applications which are no longer developed. IPF format was created for use with the Commodore Amiga, but may be also used with Atari and PC files as well. IPF files can include disk images, ROM files or any other kind of digital media.

Microsoft System Management Server (SMS) installer script that streamlines the installation process and offers the ability to install extra options on demand, automatically repair applications and uninstall the software. It is provided with Windows 2000 and Systems Management Server (SMS) version 2.0. SMS may be also used for deploying Windows Installer Setup packages (MSI files) to several computers at once.

This file stores help documentation for IBM OS/2 or AIX systems and is similar to an HLP file for Windows. These files are referenced by the Information Presentation Facility system on OS/2 systems. Help documentation can contain hyperlinks which enable the user to jump from one topic to another. IPF format is based on the Generalized Markup Language created by IBM. IPF file can be compiled into a viewable HLP file with the IPF Compiler utility.
