Several geospatial programs (for example ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and ERDAS IMAGINE) data file with additional geospatial data that conduct the raster data in such corresponding file as a geographic JPG file or a GeoTIFF TIF file. The file is used to save data that cannot be included in the raster image file. AUX files allow GIS programs to perform spatial analysis on raster data. They can include color maps, statistics, coordinate system information, transformation data and projection data. These files are usually provided with geographical images but also may be created by the GIS application. AUX files are commonly located in the same folder as their corresponding raster data files and use the same filename prefixes.
