Valve Source engine material file that can be added to a two-dimensional surface of an object. This file includes data that is used by Source engine to visually, physically and aurally simulate the surface. VMT file contains the texture name, surface type and shading settings, and also can contain fallback information (for surfaces that cannot be rendered) and proxies that are used for changing the material's rendering settings. VMT means "Valve Material Type".
