STL file extension

This is a design format which is used for stereolithography (rapid prototyping technology that is used to generate three-dimensional parts). It stores a three-dimensional design which is used as a master model to generate numerous pototypes. This format is an interchange file format and is used for storing CAD files in a default format which may be viewed by most CAD programs.

MAcromedia (now Adobe) Fireworks file with library of referenced styles which can be used for applying Stroke, Fill, Effect and Text attributes to an element from an open Fireworks project. It helps to generate a similar appearance across several elements. Styles can be preinstalled with the program installation or added manually to the software.

SuperTux (two-dimensional jump and run scrolling video game which is similar to Super Mario Bros) game file that is stored using a plain text formatting and defines the features of a level, like enemy unit locations, positions of blocks and the time limit. It also stores a reference to the music and background picture for the level. STL files are located in the "/data/levels/" folder of the installation directory.

Video playback and authoring programs movie subtitles file which contains the time every subtitle should be shown. It also defines instructions for how to show subtitles and is used to annotate video files or to save video translations. STL files store commands (start with the "$"" character and define fonts, colors, alignment and other subtitle settings), comments (begin with "//" characters) and entries (store the actual subtitle timestamp and text).

This file contains a collection of predefined elements which have been signed by a trusted entity. It may be made up of a collection of filenames or a collection of certificates. Every element in the collection has been approved by the signing entity. Microsoft IIS uses CTLs (certificate trust lists) for saving trusted websites and other addresses which need a secure connection.
