SCN file extension

Age of Mythology (real-time strategy (RTS) video game where players control armies and units and battle in mythological environment) scenario file with a campaign map, its terrain, units, starting positions and victory conditions. SCN files may be preinstalled or custom created by users. They are located in the "scenario" directory of the game installation folder. Age of Mythology scenario editor program can be used for generating custom scenarios. SCN files are also used by another Microsoft video game called Age of Empires.

OpenTTD (open source follow-on project to Transport Tycoon) game file with a game scenario that specifies the starting settings for a map played by the user. This file can contain the landscape, constructions, cities, train tracks and other elements. The original Transport Tycoon video game also uses SCN files.

SimCity project starting scenario file with different kinds of constructions, roads, bridges and terrain data. These files are used by SimCity 2000 (SC2K) video game.

File with data about several scenes within a single video file. This information file is used by Pinnacle Studio for describing scenes and defining when they start and end. This file is usually stored along with AVI file with the same filename. Paul Glagla's DVdate and ImageGrab applications can be used to open SCN files.
