PLT file extension

Tecplot (scientific visualization software) data file with output information generated through a scientific computation in the program. It can include several frames and datasets and is used to render complex two-dimensional and three-dimensional visualizations and can be rendered to a static picture or an animated visualization. Tecplot output information can be also stored using an ASCII text formatting.

AutoCAD drawing program vector-based plotter file which may be printed with a plotter that prints graphics using lines instead of dots. This file is based on the HPGL format.

Generated with the Hewlett-Packard Graphcs Language (HPGL) plotter file with a series of two-letter codes, like "IP", that declares the initial point on a plot. It can store optional parameters with the codes and is used by different drawing applications and printers to generate printable plotter documents. PLT documents may be scaled to various sizes without losing quality and use an ASCII text formatting. HPG files are similar to PLT files.
