PuppyLinux program package saved in a "Tarball" zipped archive format (TGZ files) with an md5sum checksum added to the end and used to install software applications. PET means "Puppy's Extra Treats" and is a unified packaging system used by Puppy Linux 2.14 and newer. Included PETget tool or any TGZ file extractor can open PET files. Earlier versions of Puppy Linux used PUP files instead of PET. PUP files may be converted into PET with the pup2pet utility that is a part of the PET tools package.
