PAT file extension

CAD applications three-dimensional model file with patches that contain the three-dimensional geometry as rectangular meshes. It is not similar to other formats which use single verticles for saving three-dimensional shapes. Format used by PAT files is similar to 3DA format.

This is an instrument patch file with voices which may be played using Gravis GF1-based sound cards. It is compatible with up to 16 waveforms per instrument, but cannot use multiple layers.

This bitmap image serves as a pattern which may be imported into several image applications. It is usually a square file which can be from 8x8 pixels to 256x256 pixels in size and repeats to fill an area with the pattern. PAT files are commonly used to generate a textured background.

DiskStation Manager (DSM - operating system that is used by Synology NAS devices) system file with data needed for installing or updating the low-level operating system software that runs the device. It may be used from the DSM Control Panel by selecting "DSM Update" and then the "Manual Update" function. Synology Assistant (application that is used to install firmware onto DSM devices) also uses PAT files. PAT files may be retrieved from Synology installation CD or from the Synology download center.
