Interface Builder (software development application that is provided with Apple Xcode and is used to create user interfaces for Mac OS X programs) program support file with such user interface component as a window, a view, text fields, buttons and other interactive elements. NIB files are not needed for Mac OS X programs, but they are often used for generating interfaces visually in Interface Builder, that is much more easier than generating them programmatically.
