Mandelbrot Explorer (software used to view Mandelbrot and Julia fractal images) data file with such preferences for a fractal region as the min and max X and Y coordinates, resolution, magnification and the fractal type. The file is used to store a zoomed view within a fractal image. The software creates the fractal image using the fractal region preferences once a MXFR file is opened. Using MXAD files you are able to save fractal regions and color schemes together. You are able to open MXFR file with any text editor due to its XML formatting. Older versions of Mandelbrot Explorer program used FRR files instead of MXFR.
