MAT file extension

3ds Max (3D modeling and animation application) file with a material that specifies the way textures and lighting are applied to a surface. This file may be accessed from the Material Editor component of 3ds Max software.

MATLAB binary information container format with arrays, variables, functions and other kinds of information. These files can be also used for representing audio in 64-bit floating point, 16-bit signed integer and 8-bit unsigned integer formats.

Microsoft Access (relational database application for desktop computers) MAT (Microsoft Access Table) shortcut file with a shortcut to a table within an Access database. This shortcut is used for opening a relational database table without first opening Microsoft Access. Click and drag a table to the desktop from Access for generating a MAT file.

This file stores materials or texture styles which may be loaded into 3D design applications with the V-Ray (surface material creation and editing tool that was created by Chaos Group) plug-in.

E-on Vue applications (used for generating two-dimensional and three-dimensional visualizations and computer graphics materials) file with graphics and textures which may be added to three-dimensional objects. These files are used as components or building blocks for generating an entire Vue scene. There are Infinite, xStream, Ozone, Esprit, Studio, Complete, Pioneer and Theme Packs editions of E-on Vue software. There is also the Vue MetaView plug-in for Mac OS X.
