Various GIS programs (for example ESRI ArcGIS Desktop) georeference file that uses a plain text formatting to save the coordinates for a corresponding raster JPG image file. The file is used to reference the location of aerial view maps and may be tiled with other JPEG world image files. JGW files are used to define the scale of the image per pixel and the (X,Y) coordinate of the upper left pixel. The actual geographical area of the image may be rebuilded with this information.
