Fallout modification applications (for example Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) and Nexus Mod Manager (NMM)) game file with files that are used to change game content for Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas when installed. These files are used to apply custom modifications created by game community members. FOMOD files may use 7Z, ZIP or RAR compression. They always include an "info.xml" file that is used for describing the modification and a script that is used for installing the modification. These packages also include data files that are used for altering the in-game content. Double-click FOMOD file to install it if FOMM or NMM application is installed. FOMM mods are installed to the "Fallout 3/fomm/mods/" folder of the game installation directory by default.
