FME Workbench (visual data translation application provided with FME Desktop software) spatial data mapping file that uses a plain text formatting to save "functions" and "factories" that are used to manipulate spatial data between various formats. FMW file extension is used by the FME Workbench program to store projects by default. Choose "File" → "Save As..." and select "FME Mapping File" from the drop down list within the software to save the project in the FME text format. FME Universal Translator that is also provided with FME Desktop bundle can be used to run FME files.
