Family Tree Maker for DOS compressed backup of a family tree file (FTM). The file is used to recover lost or corrupted file with a family tree. To start the process select "File" → "Restore From Backup" within Family Tree Maker program. FBC files are used only in DOS operating system, Family Tree Maker for Windows operating systems saves backups in FBK files. To open FBC files use Family Tree Maker version 16 and earlier.
