Sony digital camcorders data file that is located in the "AVF_INFO" folder on the camcorder and includes metadata about the captured videos. This file is used to show information on the camcorder like the dates and numbers of video captured. If files in the "AVF_INFO" folder are deleted the captured camera files will not play back correctly, but you can transfer them to a PC and play back them using several computer video applications.
