Adobe Digital Editions (ADE - ePublication reader) with bookmarks, highlights, and text notes for an EPUB file. Used to store user's annotations and usually referenced by a corresponding "manifest.xml" file. In Windows operating systems ANNOT files are located in "/Digital Editions/Annotations/" directory in the User's Documents folder. In Mac OS X these files are stored in "[user]/My Documents/Digital Editions/Annotations/" folder. You can view the ANNOT file with any text editor due to it's XML formatting.
